The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta helps to increase understanding, reduce stigma, provide education, hold special events, and assists with social connections. Personally, I went from hearing voices and experiencing hallucinations, being unhygienic and a high risk car driver to very minimal hallucinations and voices to being active in the community, caring for myself, taking public transit, and being a gentleman. Going to the peer support group is fun and the Partnership Education Program gives me the opportunity to tell my story to many groups of people in the community.
