What happens to this place? It used to be good and now it's not worth it. The food is inconsistent and not that great. They used to care about the quality and now the food takes twice as long to come out cold and rubbery or slimy. The service is either too slow or annoying or tacky and not easy on the eyes. This place used to be a chill place to go and have great bbq served by good looking staff that looked like they were generally having a good time. Now I just feel awkward coming here for lunches. Thank god for 7 acres next door!

Vancouver’s food scene is pretty competitive, but Peckinpah has kept a leg up. Located in the heart of Gastown, this Carolina-style barbecue joint smokes their own meats and makes some of the finest pork ribs to be found in the city. They use a variety of white oak, alder and applewood to infuse their meat with a unique, but familiar flavour combination.

From pulled pork sandwiches to slow-cooked brisket, you can get your meal with a side of mac and cheese or an order of hushpuppies. Top it all off with one of their amazing bourbon-based cocktails.
View this Smart ListPeckinpah specializes in traditional North Carolina barbecue. Unlike the sweet, sticky and familiar Texas-style, the Carolina-style prefers the smokey, crisp and firm bite that’s only possible with a cookhouse smoker. Their ribs in particular take full advantage of the regional approach and are served with a chili-vinegar sauce that harkens back to America’s founding fathers. It’s the dedication to one particular style that sets Pekinpah apart from other BBQ hotspots in the city – drop in for a true taste of the Carolinas.
