At Long Table Distillery we believe in hand crafted, small batch and local. Our family owned and operated distillery evolved from a passion for the distillation of fine spirits using traditional distilling practices with our custom designed artisan copper pot still. We love great Gin and we like to push the limits on exploring and creating other innovative new spirits. Each bottle we distribute combines our love of alchemy, the use of local and globally sourced wild foraged botanicals and establishing collaborations along the way. For the past two years we've been growing our family of premium Gins, and unique hand crafted, small batch spirits created in our North False Creek microdistillery. Today our family of spirits include: London Dry Gin; Cucumber Gin; Bourbon Barrelled Gin; Texada Vodka; Langbord Akvavit; and Marc du Soleil Brandy. Our name Long Table celebrates being social, together. Try Gin and Tonic Fridays or Saturday Craft Cocktails. Visit: www.longtabledistillery.commore...See more text
BC’s micro-distillery scene is blowing up right now with new distilleries opening almost every few months in Vancouver. But first on the scene were Charles and Rita Tremewen who opened the doors of Long Table Distillery at 1451 Hornby Street on Valentines Day 2013, in the North False Creek neighbourhood.
Inspired by a trip to Portland’s Distillery Row, Charles and Rita decided to be the first to launch an artisan distillery in Vancouver. “We were excited by the possibility of having something like that here because nothing like it existed back then,” says Charles. But being a trailblazer brings its own problems, as he ruefully admits, “The biggest challenge we had to overcome was with the construction of our site. We had to deal with a tremendous amount of red tape to conform to code; it was definitely tough being the first.”
Tough, sure, but it’s certainly bought rewards, with the distillery’s London Dry Gin and Texada Vodka now available in most BC Liquor Stores and in Alberta, and they recently scored their first Ontario LCBO order for their Texada Vodka — the only 2014 craft vodka selected by the province.
Give the gift of a romantic night in with your partner’s favourite bottle of liquor. Try Long Table Distillery’s handcrafted gin or vodka. If the gift of experience is more your style, take them for a tasting at the independent distillery on Hornby Street. If wine or beer is more their style, you know there are plenty of options around town for those, too.
Located on Hornby near Beach Avenue, Long Table Distillery is the city’s first micro-distillery serving up handcrafted, small-batch gin and spirits in a cozy atmosphere. For VIFF, Long Table is honouring the 1984 classic Dune, with the Winds of Arrakis, a gin cocktail featuring pineapple, ginger, cinnamon, orange and lime.
This distillery’s namesake is a 14-foot plank cut from a locally recovered sequoia redwood tree, made into a table that anchors the tasting room. The artisanal distillery is owned by husband-and-wife team Charles and Rita Tremewen and its clear these two are passionate about local products. Their small-batch spirits are made from ingredients handpicked by expert foragers, mostly in B.C. Award-winning gins are the stars but their range of spirits is expanding each season. Stop by for Gin and Tonic Fridays to enjoy handcrafted gins paired with premium tonics and gourmet snacks from visiting food trucks.
