Food is Great, Location is Bad

The quality of the food is terrific. The various sushi items were excellent, and the dim sum items were very good. Even the service was good. I just did not like the location. The traffic in that neighbourhood is horrible, and there is very limited parking. The parking spaces are so cramped that it is hard to get out. On top of that, the restaurant is very noisy. People seemed to be yelling at each other at the other tables. It is a shame, because we loved the food.

    Always great food!

Ordering is always fun! You go through the menu and write what you would like to order on a piece of paper. The great part is you can try a few new menu items each time you go (be sure to eat all you order or you'll be charged for pieces you leave on your plate), and order your favorites as many times as you like. It's a bit of a drive from Windsor, though we try to eat here every 2 to 3 months. Maki rolls: crab, California, shrimp tempura, dragon roll, tuna, crab & mango, spider roll; shrimp tempura served in a basket; teriyaki chicken; dumplings; nigri sushi: shrimp, salmon, tuna; & ice cream for dessert (mango or vanilla or chocolate). Service can sometimes be a bit slow, but it's worth it as it's made to order - not fast food! A sign of a good restaurant: it's always busy & August 8 has been every time we go!

    Great Sushi

August 8 is a sushi dim sum restaurant and happened to pop in one day when driving by with a friend and we decided to stop in and try it. We went in for the buffet lunch where you have order cards on your table and check off what you want. We ordered some rolls I think 3 different types such as California Rolls. We also had some short ribs and some steamed dumplings. For dessert I had some ice cream, I believe it was Mango. The food was delicious and the menu does give you quite a good variety of options to choose from. Thought the food was excellent. I did have a problem getting some of my items. my one order went to the table beside me and I ended up having to reorder something. It was busy so i guess it can happen. Also the parking is a bit of a problem and had to park away from restaurant and walk to restaurant. Food was great though and you should definitely give August 8 a try.

    Awesome!

The menu has 169 items, labeled from 1 to 169. It includes soups, dim sum, sushi, teriyaki, etc. etc. You write the numbers for your order, then do it again and again until you can't eat any more. Be sure to try the mango chicken and steak teriyaki. A fabulous place for lunch.
