Incredible service 100%. The sticky toffee pudding is TO DIE FOR. Their mussles are so good that my 10yo orders them every time we were there. Yeah, that’s right, a 10yo. The same kid who won’t even look at a pizza if it has touched pizza sauce. During COVID, the service standard has been consistently amazing. Even with all the obstacles the food is so delicious, and now THEY DELIVER, which is so much better than pizza every night. Best place to call if you’re looking for exceptional service
Stopped in for lunch after not being able to get served at the Breadalbane down the street. I was very surprised, we had good service and large wings. The place was busy, and overall a good time. I highly recommend this place.
I visited the Brewhouse a couple of years ago and was sorely disappointed. The p lace was deserted, the restaurant was dirty and the food was sub-par. I gave it another chance tonight...and what a comeback! The place was packed, and rightly so! It was half price wing night, which was what my husband had, and they were large and delicious! I had the smoked trout salad...they smoke their own trout and the portion was quite large with a yummy lemon-thyme dressing. The restaurant was very clean, right down to the window ledges, and the staff were friendly, quick and helpful. It's back on our list of go-to places!
You can ingore the previous reviews because the New Menu is great. Wow! I met up with 4 old friends for lunch today -- and we all tried newly featured items from the new menu. My friends commented the Chicken Pot Pie and Chicken Curry -- 2 good Pub standards -- are absolutely delicious, and I can say the same for the Cajun Chicken Sandwich -- best sandwich I've had in a long time (and I eat out frequently - in search of a great sandwich). The service didn't disappoint either -- and they were quick to point out some of the highlights of the new menu. We also appreicated they told us there was a large party of 18 in the other room -- so they got us our drinks prompty and got our order into the kitchen ahead of that group. I also enjoy the historic building's unique charm. It only helps to make this an experience that my friends enjoy -- and I hope to do more frequently. There were also some very tasteful seasonal decorations -- and nods to fall and Hallowe'en -- which shows the owner's sense of fun -- and above all, their genuine attention to detail. They've read the previous reviews - and have launched a great new menu. Enjoy!
Visitng from Toronto to meet with friends we decided to visit the Brew House because of the location to the Grand River. We found the menu to be very comprehensive and we all ordered various dishes. The staff were very friendly and we were even greeted by Jim & Katherine, the land lord & Landlady. Food is pub food and helpings were quite large nicely presented and tastefull.
We have consistently found the Brew House to be the best venue in the area for a true European pub experience. Five stars for the food, location, historic building, and wonderful friendly staff. We have now just about tried everything on the menu and have enjoyed all of it. Highly recommend you pay a visit.
I use to love The Brew House, not so much anymore. What happened? Me and several others ate here June 2012. After a few years out of the area I returned and expected a good, simple but smart menu. I was wrong. The new menu was a mix of pub staples, tex-mex and knock-off asian. The last two of the three is what confused me. The latest menu has been created with no thoughts of the local area. I have no guilt in saying the meal me and two guests had here was the 2nd worst meal I've had in my life. My guests felt the same. The owner claimed it was a busy night but I'm not sure she realized just how bad the food she just gave us was. We had prime rib dinner, chicken wings, duck salad & poutine. Honestly, the duck salad tasted like dry lettuce with a few slices of bologna inside. A few weeks later one of my guests that evening was asked to return to the Brew House with some co-workers for some drinks and dinner. She was hesitant, but returned. Nothing had changed. She claimed the chicken wings were "just cooked" and the fish gave off a horrible frying oil smell. If the new owners are reading this, we all love the Brew House. The inside of the restaurant is great and the patio is perfect. But the food and menu has to change. Me and my guests are not the only ones who feel this way. Reading through other reviews and speaking to friends in the area, I know this. Just yesterday I heard a co-worker complaining about a meal there that consisted of a hamburger with onion rings and chili on it and a dried out sandwich. Please listen to us locals and make a change with your chef/menu. Really bad food now.
More then one bad experience with this place on separate occasions. The service is slow, and the wait staff are rude. Food is "Ok... at best" but not worth dealing with the staff. Not many places in Fergus to eat but I would rather drive to Guelph then go back to this place again.
Figured we'd try this place dispute the reviews. Should have listened to the warnings. Lovely building, needs a good clean, sticky tables, dirty menus booklets. Minimal menu for sure . We reserved for dinner , they must have been laughing at that move... Come on in take any seat. Patio was busy, only 1 other table used in dinningrooms. Saw others order fish & chip and the fish was really dark and reeked of cooking oil 3 tables away. They ordered a childrens pizza which they sent back as it was raw and had it replaced with grilled cheese. Waitress was OK , not overly friendly it efficient but had lots of time for other staff & friends in the bar. Spicy steak and potato soup - special of the day- was NOT spicy, it was watery and had frozen string beans and woody whole baby carrots in it. The steak was shreds of beef but no flavour at all. Steak wrap was good- onions were raw not caramelized as the menu said. The waitress praised the house special cheddar ale soup - again watery, no real flavour and curdled in the bowl. Will pay better attention to reviews in future. Give this one a miss, unless you really just want an excuse to drink beer.
Since moving to this area The Brewhouse has been very hit and miss ( perhaps a few to many misses!) for me. Over the last 5 years I've felt that the menu has slid down hill, and attempts to "fix" them usually make it worse! Go back to you menu of 5 years ago, a tad more simple but better with everyones favorites....oh and if you have changed your food suppliers since then, change back too! I think new tables would serve you well, the current ones are uncomfortable and like a crowded maze. Lastly kudos on the beer!
I stopped in for lunch... had the burger. The burger was great but the atmosphere of the place leaves a lot to be desired. The music they had playing was the worse, the whole place is in need of an interior makeover.. not laid out very well, more like a maze then a restaurant. Good burgers though...
Good place to have a beer, especially on the outside patio in the summer but that is about it. Been there on several occasions (sucker for punishment) and the food just doesn't cut it. Undercooked, greasy and either too bland or way overspiced. Really too bad as it could be a great place if the food was decent.
I have a really hard time going out for dinner due to the fact that I am a vegan. Most people get frustrated when I explain to them what I cant eat. I had to write this review because I think people going out of their way these days are few and far between. My waiter got the manager to come to my table so she could suggest a menu item. She came right to the table and asked me what I could eat then she came back from the kitchen and explained what the chef would put together for me. When I said to her that I would eat much more then a salad she smiled and said "We have a fully functional kitchen and hey, maybe this will make it to the new menu?" I was so impressed that they did that for me so before I left I asked the girl her name so that i could thank her and the chef properly. So Katie and Amit thank you so much!! See you soon, cant wait to see the new menu items lol.
I was here again and I love the Chef's special that was on, Also their servers seem to be beer specialist of some sort, the suggested perfect pairings with our food, I believe I shall also be back for valentine's too, they have their menu up for that weekend and it looked amazing.....I FINALLY HAVE FOUND A FAVOURITE SPOT TO CHILL...
I have visited the Brew House on several occasions and have always had a very pleasant stay. The staff is always friendly and fun and for the most part, I can't find a flaw in the menu. If I had a complaint, it would be more attention needs to be paid to the entrance and exit areas. They always seem disorganized and cluttered. But over all, I love the joint.
A great pub to go to with your friends and family! All of the staff is super welcoming, friendly and attentive. Food is tasty, great proportions, nicely presented and very affordable! Large selection of beer to choose from! Warm, fun atmosphere with a great view! My favourite is the ceasar salad with sauteed shrimp, and french fries which are the best!! Really good with the aioli sauce or curry sauce yum yum!! :)
I visit the Brewhouse every few months as a part of a little get away out of the city. I have been going there for about three years now. Every time the experience is relaxing, light hearted and delicious!! The staff are friendly and polite and always welcoming (with just enough of that small town familiarity to add a welcomed charm to the experience). The food has always been delicious and seems to only be improving during my last few visits. Simple, but elegant presentation, fresh and scrumptious meals and lots of variety. The historical building combined with its location right on the shores of the river (awesome on the summer patio) add the extra ambiance to nicely complete the experience. Highly recommended!
Went into the Brewhouse the other night for a girls night out. We loved the fact that it had a great atmosphere with very friendly staff that were happy to be there which is getting hard to find. Not only was the food amazing! (spinach dip's my fav) but there was a great variety of beer on tap that suited each of our tastes. Over all great time and absolutely will be heading back for our next girls night out to try more of the tasty looking menu out.
I have been visiting the Brewhouse infrequently over the last couple of years since I moved to Fergus. At the beginning I found the food unrealiable (cold, never the same etc). However, that has changed and that is the purpose of my review. In the summer when I sat on their patio, I tried their enchilada with fries. It was amazing. The fries are cut and seasoned at the pub. Another time I tried two of the Chef's specials. I can't remember the name of it but it was essentially steak with stir fry. It tasted unbelievable and the price was reasonable. That night I also tried their desert special. Again, I can't remember the name but it was a honey and ice cream desert- it was to die for and only $5. These food experiences at the Brewhouse were amazing and have won me over. A local pub with 18 beers on tap with great food? Count me in!!!!
The Brewhouse has a really nice beautiful rustic feel to it. I may have gone in on a date but I couldn't help noticing how beautiful all the waitresses are. Lots of great beers on tap and the place is spotlessly clean. Food came out warm and very quickly. Very tasty food and great portions. I would go back anytime (especially on a date, the rest of the night went really well for me after taking her to the BrewHouse)
