The staff are friendly. Food is ok. Montessori teaching is not good. When a kid come to school, a teacher will ask him to sit down and give him a Montessori instrument without explanation. Kid gets bored after a while due to lack of interaction. I would not recommend it as a real Montessori school.
Great staff! Great program! We have enjoyed our experience in the casa program and have watched our son flourish socially, emotionally and academically. He has come of his shell and shines with confidence and so much knowledge! We really appreciate Ms Kays love and understanding towards all of the children. She is always warm and welcoming
It has been an amazing experience for my daughter. The staff we have encountered are very friendly and understanding. Plan on starting my second in the infant room in September!
I think this school is very good. My daughter started in September in the casa room and she is doing very well. She has made so many friends already and likes working with this older kid who is probably 5 or 6. The older kid is like a role model to her and from what I see on the cameras as well as feedback from the teacher, the older kid has taken my daughter under her wing.
I have never been more content while at work knowing my child is safe and happy at school.
Highly recommend this school to those who care about education. My daughter started in the infant room in 2012. It was hard for us to let go but my wife needed to let go. Of course we were hesitant leaving our baby but the girls made us feel more than comfortable. They called us to let us know about her day at the beginning. She took her first steps in that room and began trying to sing. As she transitioned to the toddler class, the infant girls gave us a scrapbook with pictures and artwork and made a dvd of the school year. It was very nice and brought us to tears. My daughter loved it and would name all the kids she saw on the video. She's in Casa now and will soon be participating in the schools dance program. We find it great that they offer extra curriculum activities, especially those in which children stay active! Overall, a great school, a great team.
After carefully reading over the previous review I felt a need to write my very own. As a mother of 3 children & 2 which have been attending the Montessori School House since the Dufferin site has opened I have only wonderful things to say. My oldest son has graduated from the Montessori School House last June and transitioned into the regular school system with such ease. His grace, courtesy, great mannerism, and a great sence of respect for others is a great reflection of the the wonderful skills brought forward from his teachers while he attended the Montessori School House. My second child has began to flourish. I truly applaud all of the staff for their nurturing approach and attention they have given and continue to give to my children. What is truly amazing is the wonderful family community within the school...the friendly hello's or the warm goodbyes as you roam through the halls. The great energy and attitudes are refreshing and reassuring. Keep up the great work LADIES!
Montessori School House - 9730 Dufferin St is a new location with new apparel and spacious rooms - except for the GYM room. I liked the professional experience of the teachers and the fact that my child learned the numbers, the colours, letters and the names of continents I did not like the fact that my child was hurt 3 times in 2 months due to lack of supervision from personnel. My child was attended only by an older child when caught her hand at the bathroom's door. She was also hurt when playing outside and there were more than 15 kids and only 1 supervisor. At that time she was playing with an older child. I did not like the fact that my child started having tantrums and multiple wake-ups at night time - which she never had before starting Montessori. She also refused wearing her uniform every morning. She had trouble adjusting to this so she would cry every morning. I did not like the fact that for a first-time start in school the child was left to calm herself down when crying - I considered this to be a lack of warmth and understanding for the age of 3. When I presented my concerns to management I did not feel that I was listened to but rather that I should comply with rules applied within the school. I found myself in the position of listening rather than being listened to which I found inconsiderate attitude vis-a-vis my concerns and requests as a parent. Thus, I was left with no choice but withdrawing my daughter. She now started at a different non-Montessori institution and she's fine. To conclude, I do hope that other parents won't have to share the same experience.
