401 Games has been serving the Toronto community since 1992. It first opened at 401 Yonge Street as a convenience store and has since become one of Toronto’s busiest and best game emporiums. In 2013, it moved to a spacious and sparkling two-storey store at 518 Yonge Street, south of Wellesley subway station, remaining an outstanding business that serves as a hub for the Toronto gaming community. It is a meeting place, an event host, and a source of information and advice.
Business owner John Park and manager Jeff MacDougall lead 401 Games’ team of game gurus. Their store enriches Toronto’s gaming culture and the staff is dedicated to informing and involving the community in their business. They distribute three free gaming newsletters, oversee community gaming leagues for games such as Magic: The Gathering and Pokemon, and they provide a space for gamers to relax and play board games at their leisure.
“We really want people to come here, relax and play games on their terms," says Jeff, who's been at 401 Games since 1995. “We have a very big and open upstairs gaming space and we love hosting events, whether it is tournaments or board game nights. Every day we host a scheduled event.”
Curious? “Every Wednesday we have a free open board gaming night and I encourage anyone interested to come along and have some fun,” Jeff states.
