Goodfolk

Goodfolk is the newest gem on the emerging retail strip at Dundas and Broadview. Opened in June of 2014, the once-abandoned space is now rich with vintage treasures and artisanal pieces handpicked by partner entrepreneurs Emilie Dolenc and Matt Hodgins.

Former design school graduates, Matt and Emilie have a combined background in art, design and fashion. They both began with design practices: Matt, a graphic designer, and Emilie, a textile designer. It was their appreciation for colour, materials and practicality that led them to the world of housewares.

Goodfolk is more than just a shop for Emilie and Matt. It also happens to be their home. The duo discovered their shared hobby for ‘thrifting’ while collecting vintage and antique pieces for their own space. They would often check out estate sales and developed a hobby-pile of small pieces at home. Gradually they transformed that pile into a neatly displayed showroom. Today, Goodfolk is a haven for other homeowners looking for a unique piece of furniture, a handmade dish or an antique collectible.
