As a child of Greek parents who raised him in Quebec City, Andreas Papadeas is a successful integration story. "I grew up in Quebec. I went to French school. It was very different from what was happening in Montreal, where Greek children went to Greek school, Greek bakeries, Greek church. In Quebec City, the children of Greek immigrants went to university. Today, they are lawyers or doctors."
Andreas remembers the '80 and '90s in Quebec, a time when many Greek immigrants went into the restaurant business to earn a living. His father owned a restaurant and passed on his passion for his culinary heritage to his son. However, Andreas opened his first restaurant in Greece with his wife Petra. The adventure lasted about 10 years, during which time they started a family. Then the economic crisis that rocked the country sent them back to Canada.
If you prefer European-style grilled specialties, you will be charmed by Le Mezzé, an authentic Greek restaurant located in the Old Port, on rue Saint-Paul. The atmosphere here is always welcoming; the fish, meats, and shellfish are served fresh; and the wine is good!
