This southside studio offers Taekwondo lessons for children, youth and adults, in addition to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, self-defence, grappling and sparring classes. They’ll even host birthday parties for children ages four and up. Taekwondo classes are available for children ages four to six and seven to 11, plus classes for juniors and adults. For Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, they offer a junior grapplers classes for children ages eight to 15 to learn the martial art, as well as adult and women-only classes.
This 1,200 foot studio offers up no-nonsense classes to prepare students to become experienced MMA fighters or experts at self-defence. The owner (who is a professional bodyguard) and his instructors teach Thai boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Russian Sambo (a martial art and combat sport without weapons) and Kyokushin, a type of full contact Karate. Their mixed martial arts classes combine Muay Thai, kickboxing, Karate, Taekwondo, Kung Fu, Japanese Jiu Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for a well-rounded education in self-defence. Capoeira is a combination of dance, martial arts and music, and is the traditional martial art of Brazil. The academy offers classes in Capoeira and music and dance for all ages. Their kids’ classes are open to kids ages five to seven and eight to 12. There are also beginner classes for people age 13 and up, as well as an intermediate to advanced class for adults and youth. Capoeira helps with agility, balance, coordination, flexibility, strength, reaction time and endurance, making it an ideal workout for all ages.
This Taekwondo school has several classes for a range of age groups. The Mini Dragons classes are for parents and their toddlers (ages two and three); Little Dragons is for children ages four and five. The classes promote increased coordination, focus, self-confidence and more. The studio also has an after-school program, which combines child minding with teaching Taekwondo to school-aged children. In the evenings, parents and children can take classes together and train to become black belts.
