The teachers are musicians with real experience and are always happy to help newbies.

Don't miss this cozy little music centre, where you can find everything from stringed instruments to drums, and even a musical chair.
Pacey's Pianos Ltd
11 Broadway E, Vancouver, BC V5T 1V4If you're in the market for a real piano, this is the place to find one. The store's upscale atmosphere features specialty lighting and luxury decor that shines a spotlight on what really matters: the pianos. While the shop might feel high end, it’s anything but stuffy. Visitors are welcome to run their fingers across the ivory keys to try out the various different new and used piano models on display. Owner Pacey is attentive and very good at explaining things to his customers. He can help you select the right piano for your particular needs.

If you're a beginner violinist, Vintage Violins is a good place to find an affordable instrument. The store focuses on violins only and all of the instruments on sale are acoustic and appropriate for a student level. The tiny shop is packed with violins, and the staff is quite knowledgeable and willing to help. They also offer repairs and accessories, as well as some of the best prices on strings in the city.
