We stopped in on our way home from Stratford and we are very happy we did, The waitress who greeted us was so friendly. We ordered our dinners and they arrived very quickly. I had a grilled cheese sandwich with fries and it was delicious, real cheddar cheese and the fries were yummy. My husband had the egg salad sandwich and soup and he said it was very good. The restaurant is very clean and the waitress was really very nice. We plan to return to have a full dinner soon as the menu looked nice with lots of choices. I will tell anyone I know that if they are in St. Mary's they should try this wonderful restaurant. Read more

A pleasant stop if you are in Ilderton, and especially if you are a fan of a pub atmosphere and cask conditioned ale. I've been here several times, and I usually stick with the nachos because they are a great value and are also quite tasty. But I have had the Steak and Guinness Pie which is also quite the treat. Service has always been great when I have been. I always get a few pints of cask ale when I go, and am never disappointed. It is always fresh and well kept. Rich is a true cellarmaster and knows his beer. As a result, this is a destination for lovers of true cask ale, and the only place in the south west of Ontario to try this unique style of ale. The atmosphere is comfy, nice booths, a bar to sit at, a seperate room with televisions for those inclined to watch a game, and there is also a large screen in the main room for the larger events. Overall, highly a recommended stop if you are in Ilderton or area. No where else near here can you get cask ale, great service, and really tasty food. I'll be back! Read more

My family and I have been coming to Grog's for years now. It's a great place to come to enjoy friends, food, and have a laugh. The service at Grog's is unbelievable great! Everyone is so nice and brings a positive atmosphere to the restaurant. It is always a good idea to make reservations before going to Grog's because it is always busy, in a good way. The location is just outside of the Grand Bend Strip, about a 10 minute drive with a lot of parking. It's a great place to go after a long day at the beach. Now, the food at this restaurant is fantastic. It is always fresh and delicious. My favourite dish there is the panzarotti with their famous zany bread, which I highly recommend. All the dishes they have on the menu are prepared in a timely manager and it never disappoints. Grog’s is a great place to bring your family and friends and enjoy all the wonderful people and food. We had a great time at Bijou and I don't agree with any of these negative reviews. To me a chalkboard menu and higher prices reflect this restaurant's commitment to local food and keeping things interesting during changing seasons. I respect this restaurant for providing quality food and taking their time rather than taking a touristy "more bang for your buck" approach. One that note though, I did notice the service was a little slow. Not really slower than I'd expect considering the care that goes into the food, but if you're rushing to catch a show this place is maybe not your best bet. When we had our Stratford trip we made our reservation on a night where we weren't seeing any shows and got to appreciate a slower paced and delicious meal. Read more

The menu is not extensive and there was no overall 'theme' but the food we had was pretty good. They recommended a great wine and the waitress was excellent - both friendly and helpful. We booked at the last minute and were glad we did. Not a fine dining experience if that is what you want but a comfortable experience. We split a salad and the entree portions were a good size. My husband had a Thai noodle type dish and he really enjoyed it. I had the prime rib which came as I requested. We didn't have dessert but marvelled at a couple of plates that went by. Read more

While in Stratford to see a play. we dropped in to the Boar's Head Pub. I had been there twice before, and thought my husband would like it too. Since we had had a late lunch we decided to have drinks before the play, and come back afterwards for something to eat. About 6:30 pm, we ordered draft (a Strongbow for me, and Coors Light for my husband) and then switched to whiskey. I had an Irish coffee (needed the caffeine before the play) and my husband had a rye and coke. After the play, around 11 pm, we returned. The place was rockin', with a live band and some people who had clearly spent the last 4 hours drinking! It got rather loud, but the music was good. I had Strongbow, and my husband stuck to rye and coke. The wings were very good -- big, meaty, lightly breaded, and with the right sauce. My husband had honey garlic, and I had hot (the server said it was Frank's Red Hot sauce, which was what I was looking for). There were 7 wings in a one-pound order, with a few carrots and celery sticks and dip, for $8.95 .I would definitely come back for the wings. The servers were very friendly and attentive during both visits. There were 2 servers who regularly stopped by to check on us, and who made us feel very welcome -- one of them recognized us when we returned, and warned us about the drunks who would be dancing when the band returned from break (she was right!). As far as pubs go, this one is great -- good food, lively atmosphere, good choice of draft, and great location on one of Stratford's main streets. The Boar's Head is within easy walking distance of the Tom Patterson Theatre, and slightly farther to the Avon and Studio Theatres. Read more

I brought in a tour group of 33 people and the manager Jodi and her staff were waiting for us when we arrived. They provided great service and the food was very good. The group all voted they would go back again! Thank you so much! Our travel date was on 9/24/11 and arrived around 6:15pm for dinner. Went here with friends. They been here before My wife and I had not. Our server ask if we been before and then helped us on some questions we had about the menu. Dave was very helpful with our decisions. He did not rush us and was very patient. Our english is not great but he was able to understand and help us with deciding. The wrap and roll platter was a great taste of different items and coconut shrimp was very good. We order many different dishes to try and share. Dave mentioned they were big portions and he was right. We had lots of leftovers for next day. The decor was very nice and relaxing. not very busy though. I recall eating at a Montana’s Grill a few months ago and enjoying an Aunt Emma’s meatloaf. This past Saturday my wife and I had a yearning to try it again, so we went to a relatively new Montana’s in Hyde Park and discovered that it was now listed on the menu as a “Cookhouse Meatloaf” and promoted as being one of the restaurant’s “favourites”. I can see why. Quite frankly, this was by far the best meatloaf I have ever tasted in my life, and at 73 that’s saying quite a lot. Sure you can eat meatloaf at a number of places but I bet you can’t beat having a more delicious one at Montana’s in Hyde Park. Read more
