Definitely the best bar / restaurant in the area. Great Patio in the back and very cozy atmosphere inside. This is a designated heritage building and there are old pictures of the area on the walls which is a nice touch. The food is great and it's a mix of Italian, Mexican, American. What I like most is the open kitchen. The food is prepped in the open! It's a refreshing change from almost all other restaurants that prep food behind closed doors (makes you wonder what's really crawling in the kitchen). The Bar has good selection on tap and there is a comfortable lounging area in the back by the fireplace as well. If you are looking for something in this area, I would definitely recommend going here. Read more

The food was magnificent, that's the only reason we will be coming back again for sure. The atmosphere is bad: it's very dark, loud and very, very, very tight. The service isn't the greatest either. Although the waitresses are very nice, but they're in their own world sometimes walking around dreaming or changing music when customers are waiting. We've waited just for our check for about 30 minutes. I don't understand why they don't allow carry-out - they would be making tons of cash with their diamond in the kitchen. A group of 21 of us attended this venue on a Thursday morning for breakfast. Pro: They arranged the seating at the back of the restaurant to accommodate us at one long table. The music wasn't too loud and we had the whole area to ourselves. Pro: The waiter was friendly and VERY efficient!!! He took ALL of our orders without writing anything down and got all of our orders right. We were VERY impressed with his memory skills, accuracy and attention to detail. Pro: Everyone enjoyed their breakfast, and was especially pleased with the home fries - we like them crispy and seasoned. Tolerable: The food took approximately 15 mins to arrive, but we were chatting among ourselves to pass the time. It was a little more pricey than we would have liked, but the portion size exceeded our expectations. There didn't seem to be any cons except that there was a column behind the table minimizing some of the space, but everyone was pleased and didn't seem to have any complaints. As we don't currently have a Harvey's in my area (Thunder Bay), this is always the location I usually visit for my fix when I'm staying in downtown Toronto!...Unfortunately the PATH foodcourts (Harvey's) are sometimes unreliable with their hours of operation. I love beer and I love a long list of options recited to me by memory... there seem to be so many negative reviews about the Bier Markt but... it's a pub, really, and a spacious, respectable one with Great Beer at that. I was at the Esplanade location last Friday afternoon around 4pm with my husband and some friends and we had a fantastic time drinking pints of Steigl, Erdinger weissbrau, Jupiler, and sharing fondue--wish there was a ski hill nearby. I've been here often, mainly for the beer, but last Friday the atmosphere was great, really quiet and just right for a late lunch. I wish the decor was a little cozier inside. Read more
