Meet the owner

Bobbi Lewis walked into a paint-your-own pottery store with her son and fell in love with the idea of it, but she thought there was something missing. “It was more geared for children,” says Bobbi. “We had such a nice time and were really creating memories, but I thought it could also be great if it could be geared more towards women.”

In 2015, Bobbi opened her own paint-your-own pottery place called Clay and Cupcakes, which also serves up delicious cupcakes and cotton candy. The cupcakes were her unique twist to attract women and families. “I knew that if I couldn’t woo them with the clay, I would get them with the cupcakes,” says Bobbi. “Who doesn’t like cupcakes, right?”

The cupcakes were more than just a business concept – they were inspiration for the name of the business as well. “I went back and forth with different names and Clay and Cupcakes just stuck; it’s a sweet place to paint your own pottery,” says Bobbi.

I brought my 6 year old daughter on a date and we really enjoyed our experience. The prices of the pottery range so if you’re on a budget the smaller pieces would be in the $30-40 range, whereas the larger pieces can be over $100 (with a light). I chose the more expensive end but am happy with my Christmas piece. The ladies were helpful and it was all fairly straight forward. I would recommend judging how much time you have and plan out your project that way before you start as u need 3 coats.

The prices are outrages, selection was very low. Customer service awful, we had no idea what we were to do as it was our first time. Nobody showed us or spoke to us about anything!! One of the customers told us about kids pieces in the back that we’re aprox $34. Do not recommend this establishment. But I do recommend a much better place we chose to go to instead after walking out.

I will not go there again. We never have done this before and was given no direction on what to do. I had to wait for the worker to come out of the back several times. I asked if the kids could have a candy and was later told how much I owe. Yes I should have known it would cost something, but a dollar a candy is absurd. Never ever again!

The woman we dealt with was great with my crew of 6 kids and we all had loads of fun painting. I even overheard my hubby tell his buddy that he had a good time, and that says a lot as my hubby usually acts super underwhelmed about family type activities. The cupcakes were really yummy too. I can't wait to pick up our finished products and then to go back and do it all again!
