When I ordered this entree, I was salivating for a traditional, fairly basic, Italian home cooked meal, with tender, sauteed bone-in chicken breast or leg pieces and a tasty tomato/pepper/mushroom/wine sauce. What I got was one over-cooked, boneless and dry (probably previously frozen) chicken breast with a green pepper & tomato sauce on top. The sauce did not have the flavour of a properly simmered and reduced cacciatore. Clearly the chef (cook?) is passing off fairly pedestrian chicken, fish, veal and pasta dishes as "fine Italian dining" under fancy Italian names.... just scape off the bland sauces and you will find ordinary (probably frozen) foods. Oh, by the way, the broccoli and roast potatoe sides were cold and tasteless. The potatoe cubes were dry and tasted like they were made a couple of days before and reheated. The service and decor was OK, but it does not make up for bad food.
This restaurant is OK in all aspects: the pasta was mediocre but bland, the wine was the only kind we could get by the glass (because we were driving) and was not to our taste, and the service was underwhelming and inattentive. When we dine out, we don't mind spending more for quality, but here we did not even bother with dessert.
This was our first visit to Linguine's. Pleasant atmosphere and very friendly service. Only 9 tables. I would suggest reserving a table. The small salad ($6.95) was so large we shared it. Very good! My husband ordered the grilled steak. ($19.95) It came with grilled vegetables (roasted potatoes and eggplant - on this night). The steak could have been more tender, but it was cooked perfectly. Vegetables were delicious. My veal dish came with pasta or vegetables ($16.95), I chose the pasta. Very large portions of veal and pasta - not that I am complaining as I had pasta for lunch the next day! The veal melts in your mouth, the pasta was excellent! It was an enjoyable meal.
Nice friendly little restaurant, relaxed and informal atmosphere. Excellent antipasto and good, big-sized portions of pasta - honest and good food, well priced.
I am italian, and I know Italian food. I can tell you that this is the best place I have ever eaten Italian food. The food is very fresh and authentic, and the selection of wine is fantastico. I brought 3 of my other friends, and they all agree with me that if you want italian, Linguines is the way to go! Also, in regards to Jillians comment, the wine selection is great. There must be AT LEAST 30 different bottles to choose from. I also went to thank the chefs for an amazing meal, and I found out that nothing is ever pre-packaged and everything is made by their own hands.
