Great meal great everything perfect date spot or with couple, prime rib yummy
Excellent service and the food is just wonderfull. I have also hosted an event there and they were extremely easy to deal with. I can't say enough about this fabulous restaurant!
Excellent meal and presentation every time we go.
My wife and I often go to the Mill for dinner. We always have a very good meal and excellent service. Management really seems to take notice and greet you when you arrive as well as leaving. I highly recommend this restaraunt.
It was a great experience having a nice dinner at historical building once used to be a mill. Our appetizer 'garlic shrimp' was flavorful and was cooked to perfection; main course was very good except my Angus sirloin which was chewy (med rare), the duck confit and pasta were perfectly done. One thing I did like the most about this restaurant was the service which was very prompt and professional. I will definitely go back and try other items.
I would definitely return to this restaurant. The meal was fantastic. Everyone at our table had Prime Rib and we were all in heaven. I think our server was a little bit strange but nothing too memorable since I can't remember the details.
Was at their Sunday Brunch today. They have the appetizers, desserts in another room and they serve the main course. Their are 4 choices, my girlfriend and I had the eggs, pea meal bacon and potatoes. Everything was great, the chocolate mouse was fantastic.
Upon entering the Aberfoyle Mill, I felt a little trepidation. The Mill is a very unique building but the decor is very dated and some of it verges on tacky. The host was friendly, if a bit unprofessional in his boisterous greeting. The food, however, made up for it all. The caesar salad my husband had as a starter was lovely and the vodka smoked salmon appetizer I had was delicious and generous in portion size. I followed it with the rack of lamb which was cooked perfectly and generous in portion size compared to other lamb entrees I've had. The accompanying vegetables were also delicious!!! My husband had the duck confit which he thoroughly enjoyed. We finished with creme brulee, another hit. It was an all-around good dining experience, if you can overlook the few flaws the place has which have nothing to do with the food.
Very cool building and lovely location for a restaurant. However...I was really looking forward to it, having heard about the Mill's reputation for fine cuisine. It was more like your average steakhouse. I can't complain too much, most of my party seemed to enjoy their food. I ordered the porkchop, and it was really very dry, and not all that appetizing. I guess that's why they serve it swimming in a pool of red wine sauce. The pate, however, was delicious. Our server was unfriendly and not all that proffessional. She didn't offer us coffee or tea anything with our dessert. I just expect more when someone is dropping $300 plus on a dinner. Not really worth the money for me, somewhat of a disappointment.
I felt like I was in a family style restaurant not a fine dining restaurant. We went for a special anniversary and were seated in a hot room with what seemed to be a birthday party. Very noisy and bright. Atmosphere zero. The prime rib (which you could only get as med. or med. rare) was tasteless and put on plain mashed potatoes. Very disappointing. I did express my displeasure to the man at the desk and got nowhere. Would never go back and wouldnt recommend this restaurant at all! This may have been the place to go in years gone by but not now.
This was our 2nd visit and we were impressed once again. Excellent attentive prompt friendly service and our food did not disappoint. Will definitely go back again soon. The only reason we gave the atmosphere a 4-star rating instead of 5 is that we were seated in the "New Room" this time which seemed noisier than the other dining areas.
Excellent meal, the service was very professional and accomodating, it made for a wonderful evening. Cozy country atmosphere and nice ambiance.
cosy, warm and great atmosphere....soup was amazing, roasted tomato!!feta cheese had a good contrast of flavours, well presented...beef tenderloin was out of this world ,complimented by a rich stilton and garlic butter....best food in guelph...by miles!!!!!!!
My wife and I enjoyed our dinner. The waitress was well informed, prompt, and very friendly. The old mill is - as expected - old, and therefore we knew what to expect in terms of decor - very interesting. The pate had an excellent presentation and flavour with three different chutneys. All the dishes were delicious. We will definitely be returning for future meals.
For a Sunday night this place was quite busy but our waiter,I believe his name was Ron or Rob was very personable and attentive. The food was amazing and they allowed us to split our salad at no extra charge and brought it out on two different plates and everything tasted fantastic. Afew too many antiques however they should rent a tent across the road one Sunday.Definately will return.
The warm welcome we recieved at the door set us on our way. Margaret was our server and was professional while keeping a sense of humour. (Thanks Margaret) Our appetizers arrived promptly and the although the spicy shrimp was wonderful the clam chowder was the best I have ever tasted. A delicate smoky flavour made it top notch. My halibut was a special that was pesto crusted and melted in your mouth. (I should add the presentation made it a shame to eat it. I should have brought a camera) The linguine had ample portions of Tiger Shrimp and was very wonderfully balanced. I would recommend this resteraunt to anyone who will listen (in fact I have bent co-workers ears all day) Thank-you for making my 15th anniversary a very special one. Many thanks to Mararget for selcting the perfect wine to go with the meal.
I had been here several years ago and had a wonderful experience,. so I was looking forward to returning. The atmosphere is very cosy and we were warmly welcomed at the door. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient. The order was promptly taken and food arrived in very good time. We all enjoyed our very generous sized appetizers, each of us trying a bit of everything. We agreed that the paté appetizer was the best of the 3 and that all of them were exceptional value for money. Honestly, after the complimentary yummy bread and butter, I could have had the paté appetizer as my meal! Anyway, all the main courses were again delicious, well presented and we again tasted each other's meals. I usually don't care much for beef, but I found that the prime rib was exceptional. My linguini was perfect and the haddock was just a combination of superb layers of flavours. Despite being very full, we ordered and shared 2 desserts... again, excellent! The cheesecake was a delight and my friend, who is a creme brulee aficionado, pronounced it excellent . Tip: I found out that the cheesecake and the creme brulee are the only 2 desserts made in-house. So, consider that when ordering dessert. I would return here in an instant, to have a wonderful casual evening out or to celebrate something very special. Highly recommended!
This place use to be one of the best, however it appears that things have changed. The place was dirty and smelled of cigarette smoke there was cob webs hanging from the celing. It was pretty clear that they smoke in there, I guess my only question is what is going on in the kitchen where I could not see. If they allow the place to be so dirt in the dining room. The food was ok but the service was poor at best. Sad to see.
Always a good place for a quiet, cozy meal by the fire. Ambience is good, food is simple and cooked well. Place is quite large with sitting for many but good room planning has kept it intimate. Family or couple groups should feel comfortable here.
The entire meal was wonderful and our service was equally as wonderful. We have been there many times and will continue to go. I just love the tables in front of the fireplace.
