An out of the way little house that looks like a local take out pizza joint. Walk in and there are a few tables. Sit down and order and get some of the best Italian food I have had in Ottawa. Ask what the special is, you never know. We stared wit a sausage appetizer that is to die for, flavorful and spiced just right. There were 6 of us so we all ordered different things and tried each others. There was not a loser in the bunch. Skip the insalata, it is just greens on a plate. The veal picatta was outstanding and the pastas were great. Get the house wine, the night we were there it was a very good valpolicella. My Wife and I decided for our first anniversary to try something new. We saw the tapas concept on the food network and wanted to give it a try. We used this very webiste to find the 222 Lyon Tapas Bar. When we arrived we found a place that some people would call small cozy. We were greeted by our waitress Kathy, who took the time to explain exactly what we were in for, we then asked what would be suggested, best decision we made was listening to Kathy. We had the best croquettes, the terragon Pork....well YUM was all we could say. Then we came to a problem, we had no more food and were still hungry, we then met Dee Dee, whom then suggested we try the mussles, my wife and I had never ventured into mussles, so we took the suggestion, and WOW, they were HUGE, tender and the sauce (which we discovered is a one of a kind) was AMAZING!! We are 100% going back, no questions asked! If you haven't tried tapas GO NOW overall the expierence was awesome, the food was a new walk on a different path with each plate. Went here for my birthday dinner with the family and I have to say it was an amazing meal! We all ordered different items off the menu and I think the staff thought we were crazy because we were trying each other's food, but I have everything was so tasty! The vegetarian main had many different elements to it and all were delicious, the mushroom tarte, steak frites and soup were great. Our waiter was very friendly and overall I would say the atmosphere is inviting. I consider this restaurant a little bit pricey, but perfect for a special occasion and worth the money. Read more
